Our eco-conscious caller was concerned that the Vault Bar and Grill was trashing its empty bottles rather than recycling them.
“They dump the bottles in the Dumpster at three in the morning,” she said. “And the people come and Dumpster dive, and they don’t have shoes on. It’s sad.”
Recycling isn’t difficult, said the caller, who works at a local bar that does recycle.
“Just put the things back in the box you get them in. It’s that simple,” she said. “I’m just wondering why they don’t recycle.”
Take heart, caller.
The Vault does recycle, according to the restaurant’s General Manager, Serena Chapman.
“We’ve been recycling for quite a while,” she said.
Chapman did concede that occasionally the recycling company the Vault contracts with doesn’t pick up the bottles. But, overwhelmingly, the restaurant’s bottles are recycled, she added.
Caltrans Love-Fest
Continues
For a second time in two weeks the Crusader has received praise meant for Caltrans. So, once again we’re passing it along.
Our caller said she was grateful for the recent concrete overlay work Caltrans has done to smooth out the rough spots on Highway 156 between Hollister and San Juan Bautista.
“It’s kind of a pleasure to drive over without falling into the pothole,” she said with glee. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Highway 156, much used by truckers and commuters alike, has been a bane to motorists who risk serious damage to their vehicles every time they drive the torn-up road. This month Caltrans began the concrete overlay project to fill the craters on 156 and reduce the rattle motorists experience when they drive the over-taxed road.
The work, which goes on overnight, will likely be finished before the month is out, according to Caltrans spokeswoman Susana Cruz.
