The San Benito County Office of Emergency Services is warning residents to prepare for power outages, downed power lines, fallen trees and small stream flash flooding.
A press release from the office showed the following storm information:
- Strong possibility for power outages in some areas of the county
- Avoid power lines as downed power lines may be difficult to see, are extremely dangerous, and can cause serious injuries and even death.
- Be aware of downed trees, as they may be hiding other hazards such as downed power lines and may move unexpectedly
- Urban and small stream flash flooding is likely
- Be aware of flooded intersections, roadways, and streams.
- Do not attempt to cross streams or rivers as currents may be stronger than expected
- Avoid driving through standing water as it may hide obstacles and be deeper than it appears
- Contact 911 for emergencies such as downed power lines, and gas leaks.

Sandbags have been made available in the county at the following locations: from 7 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Hollister Public Works on 1321 South St. in Hollister; from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Hollister Fire Station 2 on 1000 Union Road in Hollister; and at 703 Second St. in San Juan Bautista.
