San Benito County’s unemployment rate was 8.4 percent in March, down slightly from the February number and a big drop from the same period a year ago.
San Benito County’s 8.4 percent number declined from 8.9 percent in February. The jobless rate was 12.5 percent in March 2014, according to the California Employment Development Department.
The county had an estimate of 2,500 people filing for unemployment in a workforce of 29,700.
Statewide, the jobless number dropped from 6.7 percent to 6.5 percent. The national figure remained unchanged at 5.5 percent, according to the EDD.
