The county’s unemployment rate dipped slightly in March, according to data released Friday.
San Benito County posted a jobless rate of 12.5 percent for the most recent period reported. The county’s jobless rate was 12.6 percent in January and 12.8 percent in February, according to survey estimates from the California Employment Development Department.
The 12.5 percent rate – not seasonally adjusted – represents an estimate of 3,400 people filing for unemployment in a workforce of 27,600 people.
In March 2013, San Benito County’s jobless rate was 14.3 percent.
Statewide, the rate was unchanged at 8.1 percent, while non-farm payroll jobs increased by 11,800 during the month.
