San Benito County’s unemployment rate fell 2 percent from March to April and declined by nearly 4 percentage points when compared with the same period in 2012, according to figures released Friday.
The county’s jobless rate was 12.3 percent in April, down from 14.3 percent in March, according to the California Employment Development Department. For April, the latest report showed there were 3,300 people unemployed among 27,000 county residents in the workforce, according to the EDD.
Statewide, the rate dropped from 9.4 percent to 9 percent from March to April, according to the data. That is down from 10.7 percent statewide in April 2012.
In San Benito County, April’s figure was down by nearly 4 percentage points compared with the same month a year ago – the rate was 16.2 percent in April 2012.
