With activities heating up for farm workers, San Benito County’s unemployment rate dropped in April about 4 points to 17.7 percent, according to the figures released Friday.
The county unemployment rate was 20.6 percent in March but decreased to the 17.7 percent rate in April, according to the California Employment Development Department.
Year to year, the county’s rate dropped as well – from 19.2 percent in April 2010.
The estimates, compiled through surveying, showed that there were about 21,400 people employed in a workforce of 26,100.
The highest unemployment rate in the state was for Imperial County, which had a rate of 27.9 percent.
The state unemployment rate decreased from 12 percent to 11.9 percent, according to the announcement.
