Public input is sought at a workshop for the San Benito County Bikeway and Pedestrian Plan revision. The meeting is set from 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Hollister Community Center, 300 West St.

The plan is intended to guide improvements to bicycling and pedestrian transportation throughout San Benito County’s neighborhoods and commercial areas.

The newest revisions to the plan are the result of input gathered through a survey and prior steering meetings.

The Feb. 3 workshop is to begin with a short presentation from the staff of Alta Planning and Design, the consulting firm hired to work with the San Benito Council of Governments on the Bikeway and Pedestrian Plan update.

The consultant will explain the planning process and present ideas and recommendations for future bicycle and pedestrian facilities, according to Veronica Lezama, a staff member at COG who is coordinating the update.

“The Bikeway and Pedestrian Master Plan will identify specific ways to improve streets and paths to provide safe and comfortable riding and walking experiences,” Lezama said.

People who cannot attend the workshop may contact Lezama at 637-7665 or email [email protected], or offer feedback via the Web at www.sanbenitocog.org.
