Pamela Ryalls-Boyd

Welcome to the first edition of our new column – Decorating Den – on interior decorating tips and beautiful dream room makeovers. We are Janet Cunningham and Pamela Ryalls-Boyd, interior decorators with more than 14 years of combined experience who live and work in Morgan Hill. We are both Decorating Den Interiors (DDI) business owners and our passion is making this city and surrounding areas more beautiful, one room at a time. We’ve created this column as a way to share this passion with our community, and we encourage readers to connect with us – e-mail or call with your questions and comments and we will respond to the best of our ability and as space permits. Our goals are to share helpful tips on a wide range of topics, highlight the latest products and trends in the home furnishings industry and to have some fun showcasing remodeled rooms. Today’s first column, however, is all about us! Pamela and I would like to tell you a little about ourselves and our DDI business.

Originally from the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia, my husband and I relocated to the Bay Area two decades ago. For much of that time we lived in Alameda’s vibrant Harbor Bay Isle community. Alameda is where I began my career as a Decorating Den owner, and while living there my business served the greater east Bay Area. In addition to working with clients, I enjoyed putting on community seminars and acting as design consultant to related commercial enterprises such as the Cal Tile shop in Alameda, Custom Kitchen and Bath in Fremont and CertaPro Painters in Berkeley. In August 2012, we moved to Morgan Hill to accommodate my husband’s career and I’m now serving much of the South Bay, including Silicon Valley and the Morgan Hill/Gilroy/Hollister area.

Pamela is a native Californian who grew up in Saratoga and has lived in the Bay Area most of her life. She and her husband have been Morgan Hill residents for 23 years. Pamela also serves all of the South Bay locales mentioned above, and we often work together as a team. She recently won an award for her entry in the bedroom category of DDI’s annual International Dream Room Competition. Pamela is active in the Morgan Hill Rotary Club and enjoys volunteering with DreamPower Horsemanship in Gilroy, a center for therapeutic horseback riding. She has a bachelor’s degree in art history.

As DDI owners, we are part of a network of professionals that spans the United States and Canada. Decorating Den has been around since 1969, and in addition to being the oldest and largest interior decorating franchise in North America, DDI has developed a reputation for excellence in the home furnishings industry. Our business “comes to you” with quality products for every budget – from hand-knotted area rugs to custom furniture and window treatments. We come to your home and help guide you through whatever your project calls for.

So, dear readers, now that you know about us, we’d like to know about you! Our column runs every other week and whenever given the opportunity we will be sharing your questions and comments. Until then, happy decorating!
