The thing to remember about golf is if your muscles are tight and flexed, they won’t react the way you want them to. All of you, one time or another, have probably commented on how a pro looks like they are swinging easy but hit it so far. The reason is because they are gripping the club easy. Soft, supple muscles will have more whip and snap through the shot, and thus will generate more club head speed then tense ones.

The tension starts in the grip. Grip it as if you have a baby bird in your hand. Firm enough so it won’t fly away, yet not so tight that you will strangle it.

This then relays the message to the forearms and shoulders. Feel your muscles begin to work because their is no tension in them. Let your arms cross over each other through and after impact. This is the first hint of letting the club release correctly.

Hit the range some day and experiment with this lighter grip pressure. You will like the results.
