So, the city still hasn’t seen the Hollister Independence Rally
as a profitable institution? Quick math for those not recognizing
the opportunity: 120,000 (last year’s attendance, according to your
fine newspaper) x $3 (nominal admission fee) = $360,000 (What the
city spent last year on the rally).

So, the city still hasn’t seen the Hollister Independence Rally as a profitable institution? Quick math for those not recognizing the opportunity: 120,000 (last year’s attendance, according to your fine newspaper) x $3 (nominal admission fee) = $360,000 (What the city spent last year on the rally).
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize a cool $360,000 profit if you charge an admission of $6. How about the return on a gate fee of $10? That’s still not out of line with any other attraction of this nature. Heck, I paid more than that to go to the International Motorcycle Show this year in San Jose, and that didn’t include parking!
For a city that has no money, an $840,000 profit shouldn’t seem like a bad figure. The clientele is already there, the city just needs to figure out how to profit from it. Nobody hears Sturgis, Laconia, or Daytona complaining about their rallies, do they?
