The California Highway Patrol has identified the driver who slammed into the Ridgemark security shack Thursday morning, causing it to collapse.

The driver was 72-year-old Frank Felice, who resides at the Ridgemark gated community, according to CHP Officer Jamie Rios.

Felice had been driving a 2008 Lexus IS 350 north on Ridgemark Drive while leaving the gated community when he struck the security building at 7:45 a.m. Thursday. The structure collapsed, and the driver and two guard inside were unharmed.

The collision caused moderate damage to the car’s front end, Rios said. The speed limit there is 25 mph, and the CHP was continuing to investigate the accident, and Felice’s estimated speed, as of Thursday afternoon, Rios said.

An airbag was deployed, while investigators do not suspect involvement of alcohol of drugs.

“He brought it to our attention that he pretty much just ran off the road due to inattention because he was sleepy or fatigued,” Rios said.
