San Benito County residents are beyond growing weary of the continual attempts by Rebecca McGovern and Earthjustice to stop the March vote on Measure G.

Last week, the misguided environmental group and its well-fed attorneys were dealt another setback when a state court of appeals denied its request to have the vote blocked and Measure G returned to law without a consensus of our county’s residents.

This time the courts didn’t even waste much stationery, throwing out the appeal with no reason other than it was upholding the earlier decision made by Judge Robert Yonts, who stepped in from out of town and tossed the original suit.

Now, incredibly and disgustingly, Earthjustice said it will further its nonsense to the California Supreme Court, again threatening to cause San Benito County’s hard-working taxpayers to spend more of their money just to make sure a vote is held in March.

This is an outrage for both sides of the important and controversial issue.

These out-of-county legal bullies, with McGovern as an in-county shill, simply won’t take no for an answer, despite clear-cut decisions by Yonts and the appeals judges.

Again, we must ask why the considerable resources of this group are not being directed to something helping save the environment. Surely, there are no shortages of legitimate causes to defend and go after.

Earthjustice should drop its appeal to the California Supreme Court and not waste any more valuable time, money and attention.

There are only two full months remaining before San Benito County voters make a decision on Measure G. That time should be used for true education and intelligent evaluation, not wondering why McGovern and Earthjustice continue their alarming theatrics.

The future of San Benito County must be decided by its people and the March vote is just a start.

The quest by McGovern and Earthjustice to make a mockery of the Democratic process in San Benito County should go away.

For good.

They have done too much harm to those on both sides of Measure G already, along with insulting every responsible and intelligent resident of San Benito County.
