Santa Cruz resident Joe Guerrero has been named “2014/2015 Dispatcher of the Year” for Santa Cruz and San Benito counties. The center’s board of directors plans to honor him at its Thursday meeting, according to an announcement from Santa Cruz Regional 9-1-1.
Guerrero, on the job for nearly five years, dispatches for all law agencies in the two counties and just started handling emergency medical calls in addition to all the other 9-1-1 calls needing additional training. He also is on the center’s Peer Support Team, and is one of a handful of dispatchers who are bilingual, according to the agency.
The board of directors will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the center’s conference room at 495 Upper Park Road in Santa Cruz.
