Dr. Zettie D. Page III, the chief executive officer of Salud Para La Gente, has been appointed by Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius to lead the National Advisory Council on Migrant Health.

The council is legislatively mandated to advise, consult with, and make recommendations to Sebelius on the health and well-being of migrant farmworkers and their families. It holds public hearings three times each year to gather information from representatives of migrant health programs, federal and nongovernmental agencies, and the farmworkers themselves.

Nonprofit Salud Para La Gente has been directly serving the farmworker community for more than 30 years, creating health access for migrant and seasonal farmworkers at numerous clinics, school-based health centers and outreach sites in the tri-county region of Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito.
