Prospective contestants for the District 1 supervisor seat have
an extra five days
Residents running two open county supervisor seats have until 5 p.m. Friday to file nomination papers to get on the June 3 ballot, and those hoping to vie for the third seat in District 1 have an extra five days.

The board offices up for reelection include Districts 1, 2 and 5. Prospective candidates for Supervisor Don Marcus’ seat in District 1 get until Wednesday because there’s a five-day extension when an incumbent is not running for reelection, said the county’s head elections official, Joe Paul Gonzalez.

The two dates filing – March 7 and March 12 – mark the official start to the campaigns as those candidates’ names will be on the ballot.

The next campaign expenditure filing deadline is March 24.
