San Benito County Supervisors voted to pursue a contract with the city of Hollister fire department for fire services.

A fire early Monday morning destroyed a garage-like structure on Olympia Avenue near San Juan Bautista, the Hollister fire chief confirmed.
The fire was reported shortly after 5 a.m. in the 600 block of Olympia Avenue, Fire Chief Bob Martin Del Campo said Monday night after a San Juan Bautista council meeting.
The cause was unknown as of Monday night and nobody was injured, the chief told the Free Lance. He said when crews arrived eight minutes after the call, the structure was about 80 percent consumed.
The chief described the building as garage like, but also similar to a small barn. He said there were items stored inside with chemicals and metals.
