This first batch of H1N1 nasal spray vaccines will be available for children 2 through 9 years of age and healthy household contacts of infants younger than 6 months of age.
Physicians, pharmacies and clinics throughout the county will also be receiving the vaccine as it becomes available; however, only the Health Department is currently supplied. To get the vaccine, residents should contact their health care provider.
There will be a free seasonal flu vaccination clinic on Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 1:30 to 6:30 pm at the Veterans Memorial Building in downtown Hollister.
The H1N1 vaccine will be offered to those who qualify on that day, while supplies last. As a reminder, the seasonal flu vaccine does not protect from the H1N1 virus, nor does the H1N1 vaccine protect you from the seasonal flu, so both are recommended.
Pending vaccine supply, Public Health will be conducting a free H1N1 Vaccination Clinic on Nov. 17 at the Veterans Memorial Building with the time to be determined.
For additional information on the upcoming flu clinics, please contact the San Benito County Public Health Department at 637-5367.
Information on both seasonal and H1N1 influenza is available at the California Department of Public Health’s website www.cdph.ca.gov.
