Ah, the tango. Sensuous, sexy, passionate, erotic, gritty, edgy,

Director/creator Luis Bravo brings 13 world class dancers specializing in this type of choreography who, for the most part, excite and hold the attention.
They are accompanied by eight fine musicians who supply the tantalizing music that – at times – is more outstanding than the dancers. There are three bandoneons (a small accordion-type instrument, of which there are only 200 in the world), a stunning violinist, a fine viola and bass, an amazing pianist, and Luis Bravo himself plays an exceptional cello. They are the extraordinary glue that holds the extravaganza together.
Martin de Leon, the ever present singer who comes with any show that highlights the tango, adds a touch of class.
The flick of a finger, a movement of the hand and a fling of the leg combine with gliding and almost violent steps as the rhythms of African, Spanish and Cuban music merge together. Originating in the late 1800s on the working docks of the neighborhoods of Buenos Aries, Argentina, the tango moved to the bordellos (and was once banned by the Pope). It then became acceptable and all the rage in Europe and the United States. It was the first couples dance that appeared in Europe in the 1900s.
Veteran dancers Marcela Duran and Gaspar Godoy bring the wildness of the movement with high leaps and turns that are almost acrobatic. Victoria Galoto and John Paolo Horvath bring a smoothness to the tango with some interesting lifts. The majority of the dancers have been trained and are from Argentina. They all bring in fine performances.
Cheryl Burke, of “Dancing With The Stars” fame, went to Argentina to study tango and does an acceptable job in the few numbers she is featured in – but is outclassed in this genre by her associates.
To me, the most incredible detail about this whole production is how these women reach the ultimate in their field of dancing in stiletto heels. Truly amazing.
For an exciting couple of hours that will entertain and dazzle in this special field of dance, this is the place to get your fill. Be sure to ask about the special New Year’s Eve show.
