Hollister and San Juan Bautista residents can once again sit down to a dose of daily news with their morning cup of coffee.

The Hollister Free Lance will launch free morning e-newsletters and breaking news e-mail alerts June 3.

“It’s a great communication tool to inform our readers of our unique content,” Executive Editor Mark Derry said.

Every morning, an e-newsletter will be sent out highlighting the day’s top stories in crime, schools, city government, sports, lifestyles, business, weather and obituaries. In addition, when community-changing events occur, residents can receive breaking news e-mail alerts as they happen.

“We publish, it’s real-time to you,” Publisher Steve Staloch said.

Multimedia features, such as videos, photo galleries, audio tracks and interactive maps, are highlighted using easy-to-recognize icons so that readers can quickly navigate to what they want to see.

The e-newsletters “heighten readers’ awareness of what’s happening in our community and help them to be a part of the discussion,” Staloch said.

To sign up for daily e-newsletters or breaking news alerts, go to www.freelancenews.com/subscriber and fill out the short form. You’ll start receiving e-mails immediately.
