Peter Guenther was born and raised in the garlic city of Gilroy into a large family of seven brothers and sisters. He is the second youngest, was home-schooled until high school and attended South Valley Community Church.
While at Gilroy High School, Guenther sang in the chamber choir under Phil Robb, played football under Coach Hammond and ran track under Coach Myers. After winning CCS in both the 110m hurdles and the 300m hurdles, he earned a full scholarship to the University of California, Riverside for the 400m hurdles.
After a couple years at UCR and with the inspiration of professors, Guenther decided he wanted to be a film director, making short films and experimenting with different genres and styles.
He recently graduated from college with honors and his new film, “BASH,” was one of the last films he made while attending UCR.
“BASH” is a dark, action-packed drama about a boy who loses everything he’s ever loved all in one night and has to save his kidnapped sister before it’s too late. This 30-minute short film explores the dark side of losing loved ones and heightens the fantasy of revenge.
Guenther wrote it during in angry period in his life, and expressed himself through the film, which was funded through a kick starter campaign and successfully raised $2,000 from generous donors.
“BASH” premieres Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. on YouTube for 24 hours only. View the trailer at youtube.com/watch?v=hBZM_0ZImCU&feature=youtu.be.
