Graniterock recently adopted a new safety training program that’s a bit different than typical safety seminars. This one’s on the Internet.
The program, ClickSafety, allows employees of the construction company access to the standard course and 13 others by the company.
“We long ago decided that more of our training could be better done over the Internet,” Graniterock President Bruce Woolpert said.
A problem the company and many others had in the past was inconsistent attendance at live seminars.
“In the past when we conducted classes for our employees, inevitably someone would miss the class and we would have to schedule special make-up courses,” Woolpert said.
Watsonville-based Graniterock has a tradition of safety awareness. Founded in 1900, the company operates divisions in mining, concrete, asphalt and civil engineering.
In 1992, Graniterock received the nation’s highest award for business performance, the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award. In 2002, the company was No. 16 on Fortune Magazine’s Top 100 “Best Places to Work in America.”
ClickSafety – www.clicksafety.com – provides more than 80 safety training courses to construction-related industries. Its goal is to improve companies’ prevention programs and reduce exposures to litigation
It launched a 10-Hour safety certification course on the Internet in June for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration that allows OSHA workers to get certified at their own pace.
