Sen. Anthony Cannella, R-Ceres, received a perfect score from the small business association National Federation of Independent Businesses in California for his voting record in 2013, according to a release from the senator’s office. That came despite Cannella voting on just five of nine matters under consideration by the group.
“As a small business owner, I understand firsthand how the state can affect independent businesses. For California to continue to rebound from the recession, we must support small business growth,” he said in a statement.
The senator also received a perfect score from the federation in 2012.
In contrast, Assemblyman Luis Alejo, D-Salinas, received a grade of 56 percent from NFIB. Of nine different bills NFIB either opposed or approved of, Alejo voted in favor of all of them. Out of the nine bills considered, Cannella voted for five and did not vote at all for four other bills.
