Hollister police officers arrested a man for brandishing a firearm at a motorist during a road rage incident last Sunday, Oct.15.

Police received a report at 11:30am of a person driving a maroon-colored Honda with dealer plates who brandished a handgun out the window after allegedly cutting off the reporting party’s vehicle as they travelled on San Felipe Road where the multiple lanes converge into one.

Officer Rudy Rodriguez circulated the San Felipe Road area in search of the suspect vehicle. Once spotted, the officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.

Driver Fidel Peña, 37, of Los Banos was taken out of the vehicle. Inside the car were his wife, two teenagers and a four-year-old child.

Officers recovered a handgun inside the vehicle. During the initial investigation, the family members denied knowing anything about what had occurred.

After further investigation, officers found evidence to arrest Peña for brandishing a firearm and child endangerment.

Peña was transported to the San Benito County Jail. His family was released at the scene.
