The Hollister City Council on Monday unanimously agreed to oppose the governor’s idea to eliminate redevelopment agencies.

Council members voted to approve an opposition resolution for Gov. Jerry Brown, whose plan to eliminate RDAs would save about $1.7 billion, with a total shortfall at $25 billion.

Hollister’s staff gave about a 45-minute presentation at Monday’s meeting. It included a breakdown of the dollars spent and projects undertaken by the RDA, which has somewhere between $8 million and $9 million in its reserve, with bond indebtedness of around $45 million.
