Crowds hang out on the sidewalk to watch motorcyclists cruise down San Benito Street during the Hollister Motorcycle Rally July 5.

The motorcycle rally is officially set for July 3 through July 5 in downtown Hollister.
The city council Tuesday unanimously approved a deal with the Hollister Downtown Association—which is set to front $180,000 in costs such as those for security—to oversee the three-day event this year. The 2015 event will mark the third consecutive biker rally here, but with a new promoter under the helm this time around after Worldwide Dynamics’ recent departure.
The first sanctioned, local rally was in 1997 to commemorate the 50-year anniversary of the so-called “invasion” of Boozefighters in 1947, an event later portrayed in the 1953 film “The Wild One” starring Marlon Brando.
