– Emmaus House, a safe shelter for women and their children that
are victims of domestic violence, is seeking additional volunteers
to assist the staff and clients. Openings are available for
transportation of clients; general housekeeping; children’s
activities; bookkeeping; general office work;
and assisting house management with other necessary operations.
Experienced counselors, teachers and health service personnel are
also needed on a volunteer basis. Applications can be obtained by

Community Spirit Awards nominations

GILROY – Gavilan College is accepting nominations for the 2007 Community Spirit Awards. Since 1999, the college has presented the awards to honor individuals, businesses and organizations that add to the quality of life in the Gavilan district.

BLM grant applications open to review

HOLLISTER – The Bureau of Land Management is opening up draft grant applications being proposed to the California Department of Parks and Recreation Off Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division. The draft applications include nearly 90 projects from facility development to restoration work at 16 field offices in the state.

The applications can be viewed online at www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/prog/recreation/ohv/grants/2008.html, or can be reviewed in the Hollister office at 20 Hamilton Court, in Hollister.
