Estella Shackelford, owner of Healthy Inspirations in Hollister, can help get rid of unwanted calories with a combination of exercise and nutrition counseling.

“If you want a one-stop shop this is the place,” Shackleford said.

Once 207 pounds herself and now down to a lean 170 pounds, she and her staff provide a place for women only to exercisde and learn about nutrition. About five years ago a friend of Shackleford’s brought her into Healthy Inspirations.

“I had a friend who had to drag me in here,” she said.

Within a few months, she was a part-time employee and in December of 2005 she was the owner.

“I bought this business because I am living proof that it works,” she said.

Healthy Inspirations is a specifically designed weight loss program that guarantees a loss of two pounds per week when clients follow the program.

“You have to stick to it,” Shackleford said.

The program has four specific parts that clients should follow. The first is nutritional counseling. A staff member at Healthy Inspirations will sit down with members and design an individualized eating plan based on their weight loss needs, which will all be logged into a personal journal. Healthy Inspirations will provide a list of foods that offer dozens of choices to accommodate a specific lifestyle and medical conditions. Step two provides exercise, with thirty-minute circuit training for a full-body workout. Each station lasts approximately one minute.

“I have one women that stays for an hour and a half,” she said.

The third portion of the program is coaching. Members schedule a meeting every one to three times a week with a coach. Members meet one on one. During each session clients are weighed in, journals are reviewed and any concerns the client may have are discussed.

“I like the one on one’s with the ladies,” Shackleford said. “It’s more personal. Right now I can greet all my ladies by name.”

The settings provide each lady with the confidence, education and motivation to stick with the program and meet their weight loss goal, she said. The final step of the program is relaxation. Each week a one-hour session in the Tranquility Chair is available to massage out any stresses leaving your mind and body clearer.

Diana Gabriele, a local hairstylist, has been coming to Healthy Inspirations for about 10 months.

“I have a lot more energy,” Gabriele said. “At the other gyms I would get bigger and not as toned.”

She spends 45 min. working out, three to four times a week and follows her food plan.

“I like it a lot,” she said.
