It is quite apparent the persons involved in making the decision
as to where Stephanie Rodriguez would reside made the wrong choice.
However, they are not alone. These events take place frequently and
the numbers of murders and murder/suicide cases increases at an
alarming rate. Today a child is an orphan because someone made this
choice and you have to wonder when they are going to open their
eyes and realize a real and present danger when it exists.

There was no reason not to let this matter rest until a decision could be made at a later date. But those who made the choice have blood on their hands today. They chose to afford an opportunity for a mother to be put to death and her child to become an orphan just so the child could attend a school in Hollister. Shame on them.
This woman chose to be free of an abusive person and to afford her child freedom as well, however, those in our justice system took her freedom away and gave her a death sentence. Let us hope this case, like many others, provides those who make such decisions pause to think before they act again and prevents the death of another unnamed woman who only wants to be free.
As a personal note, I am a domestic violence survivor. I too found my road to freedom hampered by the court system when they took my restraining order away. It is like being on the sea in a life raft and finding someone taking the raft away from you. It scares the hell out of you. It is four years and counting and don’t think I don’t look around, lock my doors at night and stay alert.
