This missive is in regard to the
”
Citizens Voice
”
column.
Quite a few letters have appeared recently in the Free Lance
both pro and con to it. As some ‘old timers’ may recall, this exact
same space was once occupied by Bob Valenzuela’s column. Since its
departure, nothing really as interesting replaced it.
Some have said that the C.V. column is a bad thing, while others
appear to like it. In any case, C.V. is, whether you love or hate
it, always interesting.

So what if the letter writers are anonymous, at least they now have the opportunity to vent. Everybody has some opinion to issues at large but most will NEVER put pen to paper to voice those opinions for fear of public ridicule, private retaliation, embarrassment or a myriad of other reasons.
The Free Lance will never print anything libelous and I doubt it will publish anything so outrageous as to start a riot. Whoever thought this column up deserves our thanks.
Granted some harm could come to someone from a C.V. letter, but in my opinion, it is better that “We, the people” have an outlet/avenue for our Constitutionally guaranteed right, the freedom of speech!!!!
One does not have to agree with someone else’s opinion, (another right) whether in a signed or unsigned letter. Regardless of how anyone might feel, that person can always write a letter to the editor stating another opinion.
So, thank you Free Lance for giving people the opportunity to speak their minds.
