Fundraiser

La Catrina Mexican Grill & Bar in Hollister hosted a fundraiser in late July that raised more than $2,000 to help build a home for a family living in Tecate, Mexico.
Those participating in the event July 25, fundraised $2,148 of the $5,500 needed to pay for materials for the home.
This was Team Willis’ first fundraising event for the 2015 Baja Challenge, an event run through Project Mercy, a nonprofit organization that enables teams of volunteers to come together and build homes for the less fortunate.
As part of the challenge, the team will build the home during one 12-hour workday from 6 a.m. to 6p.m. on Oct. 3, according to the group’s crowdfunding website. They are fundraising $4,900 for materials and an additional $600 to provide an outhouse for the family, according to the website.
Those interested in joining the team should call Mirian Martinez at (831) 801-4143 or email mi***************@gm***.com. Donations can be made by visiting: gofundme.com/bajachallenge2015.
