Jennifer Elizabeth Laine and Stephan Gunter Schwarzwaelder announced their engagement June 14.
Laine’s parents are Kathleen Sheridan and Kent Child of Hollister and Carey Laine of Penn Valley. Schwarzwaelder’s parents are Gunter and Pia Schwarzwaelder of Lars, Germany.
Laine is a 1996 graduate of San Benito High School and a 2000 graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz. Schwarzwaelder is a graduate of Trier University in Germany and is completing his graduate work in psychology at the University of California at Davis.
The couple met on New Year’s Eve in Trier while Laine was teaching English in Takino, Japan.
They currently live in San Francisco and plan to wed Sept. 20.
