An overgrown tree at the corner of Prune and Squire streets blocks the view of a stop sign.

Tree causes impediment for drivers at stop sign

While there hasn’t been much rain this winter, it hasn’t stopped at least one tree from overstretching its branches over a stop sign in Hollister – which is a common occurrence around this time of year, but potentially dangerous nonetheless.

City of Hollister Public Works Department officials are always wary of such problems with impeded views for drivers caused by vegetation. They largely rely on citizens to inform them when there are trees or bushes causing issues.

This week, a citizen spotted a potentially dangerous tree situation at the intersection of Prune Street and Squire Court.

Hollister public works official Julian Gaytan on Wednesday said he would check to see if the city had addressed that problem yet.

“I got guys out there and I could possibly shoot them over there later today,” he said.
