This county needs businesspeople who are willing to make a change
Dear Editor,
First, I am a former resident, but still visit periodically. I keep up with Hollister issues via the internet, and with my career in RE development took a keen interest in this small project.
I disagree with Mr. Fehl on a few of his issues.
First: You mean to tell me that jobs “lost” from the city to this “county” project would not be filled again in the city? Raise your hand if you can fill the job Hollister residents.
Second: Is anyone aware that a short time ago, Ridgemark was in a very difficult finacial situation, and that the current owners have spent millions to bring it back to it’s current status? If not, with this economy, Ridgemark may not look, or be in this good of shape without their money.
Third: If all of those additional projects you say are going to be developed, I believe those business’ 2 miles down the road can make up the “losses” of sales income. But again, in this economy, how long before those new projects would be completed? 5-10 years? So the wear and tear issue is a non-issue at this time. (And as I’m thinking, would some of those people need jobs?) Anyway, if I was developing those areas, I would strongly consider putting in my own strip mall.
Lastly: As for the “15” homes(with no disrepect for these homeowners), how about if the developers put in 13′ trees to block the 12′ walls?
We are in a tough time, one of the worst economic times ever in this country. We need people who are willing to take a chance with their money to create business and jobs, to get the money ‘flowing’ again. Hollister, you have that, and geeze, with what they have done for your community, can’t they get an opportunity to get some of their investment back?Â
