Looking forward to seeing gang coordinator’s role in
community
So pleased to hear about Mr. De Vos and his position (as the
local gang coordinator).
I have lived in Hollister all of my 28 years on this earth and
was a teenager in this small town once. I am now a mother of a
young boy and keep my son very active in sports and on his
academics.

I have lived in Hollister all of my 28 years on this earth and was a teenager in this small town once. I am now a mother of a young boy and keep my son very active in sports and on his academics.
Unfortunately, not all kids in town are as fortunate as my son. In these tough economic times it is hard to afford baseball and football etc.
I see a lot of teenage kids walking around town with nothing to do but get into trouble to keep them occupied. Some teens’ parents aren’t open enough or dont have the patience or the time for their teen to bring friends over to hang out at home, so they are supervised.
Most to teens just want somewhere they can hang out with their friends. We need a few places in town they can do that; not coffee shops but perhaps a roller skating arena, or bring back the bowling alley. But not a place run by a private owner; something done through the city.
The people working there should have backgrounds in working with youth and are all-around good people not just someone in need of a job.
The youth in our town are desperate for a positive environment where they can hang out with there friends.
I have lots of family and friends who feel the same way there would be plenty of people in this town willing to spend their time and money helping our youth.
I look forward to seeing what Mr. De Vos has in store for our town and our youth and I hope he will keep his ears open to suggestions.Thank you for your time.
