Small Gesture from Sheriff Helped her to Help Herself
Small Gesture from Sheriff Helped her to Help Herself

Editor,

This letter is to thank our great Sheriff Curtis Hill and all who have been involved Dr. Bruce Saal and his office and Lt. Turturici, Jail Commander Ed Escamilla, and the transportation officers who drove me to by first doctor appointment, as I was still incarcerated.

The reason I’m thanking these upstanding citizens is though none of them know me on a personal level, they took an interest in me and offered to help me get a tattoo removed from my forehead. Yes my forehead. I have been an alcoholic, drug addict for many years, and along the way have made some stupid decisions here and there. But when these folks reached out to me in a manner that wasn’t expected or even asked of them to somebody who was sitting behind bars feeling sorry for herself, well it touched my heart and I began to feel a little self worth and upon my release from jail entered into San Benito Recovery Homes of my own free will, not court ordered.

I had a desire to be somebody because of that little show of selflessness on the sheriff’s part. I am doing well and enjoy living sober and appreciate the people, who although they didn’t know it, changed my outlook on life that day at the jail. After our meting I went to my pod and looked back at my life instead of feeling sorry I did something different. I changed my attitude and set some goals the first I’ve ever set in my life. So thank you for that Mr. Curtis Hill, that you thought of me when you have so much to do out here in our community. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’d also like to take the time to thank my mother and father Mr. and Mrs. Angulo of San Juan Bautista for all your support through the years. My fiance Tlaloc Zuniga who is constant source of strength and light in my life and also the director and owner of S.B.R.H. Inc. Yolanda Valverde who has gone out of her way to help me and so many others like me.

Sincerely,

Eileen Cole

Police Chief is a ‘Bully’

Editor,

I was doing my best to give this man Chief Miller a chance.

Well he blew his chance with me. Mr. Miller, you can’t come to our town and rough up the local people. I saw you on the street smiling as your police officers pushed us around.

Next time you look for a job if they call me for a reference I will say that you look down on people and think you can use your power to keep us quiet. You are nothing but a bully.

I wonder who on the city council knew about your policy of going after the community, cause who ever it was they are on S—- list. If you want a new chief of police call your city council and say Jeff Miller should be fired.
