Several San Benito County residents recently fared well at a neighboring Monterey County Fair.
Two local youth took home grand champion prizes in the competition that wrapped up Friday. John Bianchi from the Hollister Future Farmers of America chapter was grand champion in the hog division. Abby Bianchi from San Juan 4-H was grand champion in the lamb contest. And Madison Andade from Hollister 4-H was grand champion in the steer division.
Others taking home reserve grand champion included Taryn Wright from Cienega 4-H in the lamb contest as well and Andrade in market goats.
The Monterey County Fair ran through Monday at the fairgrounds, 2004 Fairground Road in Monterey. The San Benito County Fair is set for Oct. 1-4 at Bolado Park in the Tres Pinos area.
