Hollister – Police arrested an intoxicated man Monday morning on suspicion of driving a pickup truck into a garage door and two parked vehicles near a licensed daycare on Joe Borovich Drive, police reported.
A 30-year-old Seaside man was booked on charges of vandalism of more than $5,000, child abuse and threats, all felonies, and driving under the influenced, a misdemeanor, said officer Rosie Betanio, a spokeswoman for the Hollister Police Department. It occurred at 10:14am in the 800 block of Joe Borovich Drive, the spokeswoman said.
Betanio said a man had an argument with a 28-year-old Hollister woman, threatened her, then got into a 2001 Nissan Frontier and drove into a garage door. The man then reversed, squealing his tires, and backed into the street, Betanio said.
Squealing the tires again, the man drove forward and hit a 2006 Suzuki, causing major damage, Betanio said. The Suzuki was pushed onto the lawn of a licensed daycare center, Betanio said. Two children were in the daycare at the time of the crash, she said.
After hitting the Suzuki, the man abandoned the vehicle as it crashed into a 1998 Ford Explorer, causing moderate damage before coming to a rest, Betanio said. The pickup truck suffered major damage, Betanio said.
Officers arrived shortly after and arrested the man, police said.
The Seaside resident was taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital with bruises to his arms and complaints of pain to his head, chest and stomach, Betanio said.
