Deputies continue to investigate the stabbing just north of Morgan Hill

A man in his 50s suffered a superficial stab wound when an unknown suspect cut him with a knife north of Morgan Hill Sunday afternoon, police said.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance in the area of Monterey and Blanchard roads, near a bait and tackle shop, about 4:57 p.m., Sgt. Jose Cardoza said.

A man described only as a Hispanic man, wearing a black helmet and fleeing on a silver motorcycle, allegedly stabbed the victim once in the stomach, Cardoza said.

The victim, also a Hispanic man, suffered minor injuries, but was taken to an area hospital, Cardoza said.

By the time deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect had already left, police said.

It is currently unknown if the stabbing was gang-related or motorcycle club-related, according to Cardoza. Deputies plan to interview the victim to gain more information after he is treated.
