The San Benito Masonic Lodge No. 211 and the Athena Chapter No. 46, Order of the Eastern Star, gave bicycles and helmets to two San Juan School students Wednesday at the end-of-school assembly.

Teachers chose fifth-grader Isaiah Aefalle and sixth-grader Marie Guadalupe-Contreras to receive the bicycles. Third- to eighth-grade students are eligible to receive bicycles through the Masonic Family Bicycle Program and are chosen by their teachers for having perfect attendance, at least a C average and not being a troubled child in class or at home.

Since 2001, 13 schools have been involved in the program. The San Benito Lodge and the Eastern Star Chapter raise the money for the program. The organizations get the bikes and helmets with help from Muenzer’s Cyclery.
