Hollister Mayor Ignacio Velazquez is hosting a special summit next week to showcase designs for possible “tiny homes” for use by homeless residents.
Velazquez is hosting the Mayor’s Youth Summit on Homelessness from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Vault, his downtown restaurant.
It will include a discussion on the tiny home concept and why it’s appropriate in Hollister, along with a showcase of designs for tiny homes. The collaboration has involved the Hollister Dual Language Academy and Helios School in Sunnyvale.
Velazquez has focused on homelessness as a priority during his second term in office. He has been active in efforts to create programs for transitional housing and to build a permanent homeless shelter.
