Ten years ago, opponents to the Hollister and San Benito County growth control initiatives “L” and “M” claimed that the measures would, “tie the hands of future City Councils and future Boards of Supervisors for years to come.”

Well, they were successful. Both measures failed. And Monday’s Free Lance headline reads, “Water board denies two sewer hookup requests.”

The article below it reports that “(t)he state regional water board denied two of three requests from Hollister to hook up critical‚ construction projects to the sewer system.” The word “critical” is used because the hookups are for Fire Station No. 2 and a surgical center at Hazel Hawkins Hospital.

Today some of the same people are using the same argument against Measure G. They were wrong then and they’re wrong now!

One of the main strengths of G is that it sets a growth cap that can only be changed by a vote of you the people of San Benito County.

Don’t chance the county having to experience the trauma of out of control growth, too.

Vote yes on Measure G for voter-controlled growth.
