Where’s the blotter

A caller dialed up the Crimson Crusader asking about police reports or the lack thereof in this week’s Free Lance.

“I was just wondering why the arrests aren’t listed anymore. I haven’t noticed any since last week. I’m just curious what happened.”

Don’t worry, the police have still been beating the streets and, rest assured, arrests were made this week. Red Phone spoke with Free Lance editors who told the Crimson Crusader the police blotter was put on hold this week as Free Lance reporters were especially busy chasing breaking news in San Benito County. With a small staff and busy schedule, the police blotter is omitted from time to time. Fear not, public safety reporter Erin Musgrave will review the week in crime and the highlights will be published in Tuesday’s Free Lance. Crime-conscious readers have the same access rights as the press and anyone wanting to see police reports need only visit the police office or county jail and ask to see them. Of course, you can always wait to read them in the newspaper. Guess which we prefer?
