In addition to Mr. McDonald’s list of items our servicemen are
being short changed on, it has been widely reported that the Army
and Marines did not have enough rifles to issue one per soldier and
the rifles they had jammed frequently due to sand and grit from the
wind storms. Try defending yourself with a pistol when the other
side has rifles and rocket launchers!

I think it’s absolutely appalling that adequate equipment isn’t available (rifles, vests, food, etc.) We sent the reserves for a “few months” deployment and now they are being extended to one year, possibly longer, or they may face a second deployment. The VA is considering closing hospitals. We transport serviceman on leave to Germany and leave it up to them to get to the U.S. and back on their own resources! How many servicemen or their families can afford the airfare and other expenses on short notice when costs are the greatest.
I’m forwarding this to my U.S. Senators and Representatives, and those in Sacramento too. The more correspondence they get the more likely something might be done to adequately support our troops, especially those overseas.
This is not the time or place to be cheap and stingy! These are American lives at stake, not potholes in roads, endangered salamanders and other frivolous issues that only get attention due to groups who lobby until they get their way just to shut them up. Our Senators need to tell some of these groups to sit down and to wait their turn, while they exercise their spines on behalf of the troops.
Let’s make a commitment to the Armed Services! They certainly have made one with their lives on the line every hour of every day.
