Although there was extensive flooding just miles away, there didn’t appear to be any in City of Hollister limits, a top official said Wednesday morning.
At 7:39 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a flood warning for an area near Pacheco Creek in San Benito County.
The flood warning came while emergency crews responded to nearby Lovers Lane to evacuate residents from severe flooding there, according to ABC7 News.
“To the best of my knowledge, there’s no flooding in city limits,” Hollister Community Services Director Mike Chambless said in a phone interview with the Free Lance. “Seven trees are down in the latest round. We’re out cleaning those up.”
Chambless also said one car and a couple fences were damaged. He cautioned residents to drive safely and slowly, as public works employees are out working.
County Public Works didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
San Benito County and the Bay Area as a whole have been hit hard by rainstorms over the past week. One highland area of San Benito had 8 inches fall in that period, according to the weather service.
