Measure C has hidden ingredients

Measure C’s primary goal seems to be to trick voters in San Benito County into voting to overturn the county ban on commercial marijuana cultivation next to rural Homes and neighborhoods—without telling you that is what you would be voting for! Deceptive Measure C was...

Complete the AG census

There’s still time. To ensure an accurate representation of the agriculture industry in this country, the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service has extended their 2017 Census of Agriculture response deadline through spring, and the Rural Coalition/Coalición Rural is calling on...

GOP immigration plan hurts farmers

As the U.S. House of Representatives continues discussion on proposed immigration legislation, the California Farm Bureau Federation cannot support a part of the bill that addresses agricultural employees. Almost one year ago, City Manager Bill Avera reminded the Hollister City Council during the Dec. 21, 2015 meeting about discussions on medical marijuana, and he provided them with the urgency ordinance adopted several years ago as well as the ordinance adopted by the city that prohibits dispensaries within city limits.

Guest View: Assemblyman Alejo says farewell

It has been a great privilege to represent the Central Coast in the State Assembly for the past six years. I'm honored that voters put their faith in me three times since 2010 to be there champion in Sacramento.

Guest View: Bar owner incensed over biker rally talks

Until I received a call from the lovely reporter from KION yesterday I had no idea that the city had lost its mind again.
