according to Caltrans.
Southbound Highway 17 is being shut down for several hours between Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz due to slides and flooding, according to Caltrans.
According to the announcement released Saturday:
As of 11 a.m. this morning, southbound Hwy. 17 is shut down between Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz for several hours due to slides and flooding in the roadway. Traffic will be detoured at La Madrona/Mt. Hermon Road. Northbound Hwy. 17 remains open at this time. In addition, Hwy. 9 is completely closed just south of Paradise Park, which is a few miles north of the Hwy. 1/9 intersection.
Caltrans and the CHP advise against any unnecessary travel in this area for the remainder of the afternoon.
