Members of the San Benito High School Outdoor Club planned an array of fun activities for Earth Day on April 22. All the events were developed around increasing awareness of recycling and other green activities.

One student from each class at San Benito High School and one teacher were selected for the individual events such as the newspaper bundle haul, the pitching plastic Gatorade lid toss, the milk jug wipeout and the huff and puff pocket race. Teams of four participated in the octupus race, in which contestants were tied together in a circle facing each other and then asked to walk across the quad. The groups also worked in teams for the food tray relay race.

After school, the Outdoor Club members planted a 2010 senior tree in the senior grove. On Saturday, they participated in the San Benito County riverbed clean-up with teacher and advisor Jim Ostdick.
