Police on Dec. 30 arrested two suspects on weapons charges after a citizen alerted authorities to a looming fight among several people, one of whom displayed a handgun, according to a police statement.
At 9 p.m. Monday, a citizen called 911 reporting a disturbance in the 400 block of Tres Pinos Road, a commercial strip.
Police ended up arresting two Hollister residents, while others fled the area. The suspects arrested on suspicion of weapons and other charges were Randy Casarez, 22, and Tiffany Banuelos, 21, according to a police statement. Â
According to the police statement:
An investigation revealed a loaded handgun that had been previously reported stolen. The witness positively identified Casarez and Banuelos as being involved in the original disturbance. Casarez was booked at the San Benito County Jail for the following charges: Violation of probation, felon in possession of a firearm, conspiracy to commit a crime, gang member carrying a loaded firearm, having a concealed firearm in a vehicle, possession of stolen property and felon in possession of ammunition.
Banuelos was also transported to the San Benito County Jail and was booked for the following charges: Carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, possession of a switchblade knife, conspiracy to commit a crime, obstructing an officer, receiving stolen property and possession of a handgun.
