This is a picture of the drugs given to police in a take-back program.

On Saturday, the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office and the Hollister Police Department collaborated with the Drug Enforcement Administration to hold a prescription drug disposal event at the local Target store in Hollister.

This collaboration collected over 276 pounds of prescription drugs during the event, according to a statement from police.

Working with the DEA, the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office and the Hollister Police Department gave the public an opportunity to help prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

The Hollister Police Department and San Benito County Sheriff’s Office said they would like to thank the public for their overwhelming support of this event and program.
