On Feb. 22, the Hollister Police Department Animal Control Bureau in conjunction with the Animal Hospital of Hollister, Ausaymas Veterinary Clinic, The House Call Vet and the Hollister Veterinary Clinic participated in the Annual Spay Day USA.

Spay Day is a national campaign to help stamp out the country’s severe pet overpopulation problem. Two unaltered cats and their offspring can produce 420,000 cats and two unaltered dogs and their offspring can produce 67,000 dogs in just six years.

The Animal Control Bureau, has teamed up with the Animal Hospital of Hollister, Ausaymas Veterinary Clinic, The House Call Vet, and the Hollister Veterinary Clinic to offer spay and neuter certificates valued at $50 off any spay or neuter beginning Feb. 22.

In light of the recent passing of the breed specific ordinance, priority will be given to both Pit bull and Chihuahua breeds.

Certificates are limited.
